Got the Thule rack installed and washed Aurora. Feels good! Now I can go and get my bike from the shop this week! Yeah!!!
Today is the day.
I will be getting my parts today to get the Thule rack up on the car, stay tuned for photos! Should probably get her washed too before that… We’ll see! Maybe pics will be up this weekend!
I just want to bike!
[I would like my Thule parts please]
So I haven’t blogged in a few days and that may have something to do with the fact that nothing too exciting has happened with Aurora lately… I am still waiting on the correct Thule parts to be shipped in so I can pick up my bike without scratching my car so I can get out and enjoy this beautiful Wisconsin Spring! My fiancee Kolyssa and I love to bike and we have great trails around here to enjoy! Hopefully soon I guess :)
A special Thanks to my good friend Lyle who is helping me out greatly with this!
[Ugh… wrong parts]
Note to self: Do more research when getting the correct new parts for the Thule roof rack.
Turns out the Foot pack from the ‘08 (Thule 400xt) does not work with the ‘12 model and I was for some reason thinking I had the Thule 480 foot pack for square bars…
480 foot pack is on it’s way and my bike sits at the bike shop for who knows how long until I can pick it up with a fully installed roof rack! I am going to try not to make this mistake again.
P.S. Old parts for sale if you have a 2nd Generation Focus! (‘08-‘11)! $200 OBO
[Churchill Downs - Kentucky Derby Museum]
We made it to Louisville and drove through the campus of the University of Louisville and then made it to the Churchill Downs. We toured and went out by the track, which was really awesome! Learned a lot about the history of the race and the winners, it is the longest standing organized sport in the country. It was really excited to see such a historic place!
Let the Journey Begin
[Milwaukee to Nashville to visit our best man]
4am and we are just about ready to leave for Nashville in the first road trip in our new 2012 Ford Focus. I’m excited to see some good gas milage but nervous about the gas prices! 10 hours or so it says to make it there, we’ll see! Plans to stop in Indianapolis and Louisville but we’ll see how the weather is! Fingers crossed it may be ok.
Tut Tut looks like rain! We are going for the long weekend but looks like rain 3 of the 4 days down there… blah! Hopefully the 18” wheels with sticky sport tires can handle the rain ok!
This is the beginning, why don’t you tag along with us and watch for more posts along the way!

[1st scratch]
I was quite upset after taking my bike to the shop yesterday! No not about the bike, but the first serious scratch on aurora. The darn bike rack rubbed paint off of the back of the spoiler.
This happened on my last focus as well so this time I took extra precautions with towels and it still happened. If only I had my Thule rack installed! Still waiting on the fit kit that is on back order… What can you do I guess.
I luckily had some black auto paint and it is in a pretty hidden location that is not really noticeable unless you look for it.
[spring 2012]
First day of Spring here in the greater Milwaukee area and it is a chilly 77 degrees! I am training for a marathon this coming fall in October along Lake Michigan and have had some leg injuries as I am starting out on my training so I need to get a little cross training in!
Last fall when I owned my 2008 Focus SES I had my Thule bike rack on top and pulled into the garage to drop off groceries forgetting the bike was on top on the bike rack… needless to say there were some damages done and today is the day to figure out the extent of those! I haven’t gotten my new Thule fit kit yet to get the rack up so I have to resort to the good ole “strap on” bike rack for now! Time to see what the damages really are!
Cross your fingers it’s not too bad!
Setting aside cars for a moment, the BIGGEST part of my life truely would be my best friend who just so happens to be my fiancee! She is the sweetest and most loving person I know and I am truly blessed to spend the rest of my life with her :) I just dropped her off at the airport to go and see her good friend and basically sister Mindy. It’s sure nice to have someone to miss, not that I enjoy the missing feeling! I wish and pray safe travels to my sweetheart and dedicate this post to her :)
Love ya dear!
Sometimes can be hard to let go of our grip on this world thinking that we know best. We just need to TRUST GOD and know HE has our BEST in mind.
